Donny Osmond Joins 96.2 The Revolution
April 7, 2011
It’s a bad case of Puppy Love for Steve Penk and his radio station 96.2FM The Revolution.
Penk has negotiated a deal with singing star Donny Osmond to host a weekly entertainment show on the Oldham-based radio station.
This will be Osmond’s first DJ/presenting job, as he looks to add another strand to a multi-faceted and enduring career in the spotlight.
Osmond is familiar to millions and loved by millions more (women of a certain age). His website www.donny.com apparently boasts over 120m hits annually, while he (together with sister Marie) have notched up sales in excess of 80m records.
Penk believes this gives his new presenter a huge fan base and his production company, Blue Revolution, a chance to syndicate the show, perhaps globally.
“Donny is one of the all-time great ‘all-rounders’ and when he decided to move into radio I wanted my station to be the first to carry the show,” Penk commented.
Penk: Osmond A Perfect Fit
“The music will be fantastic and Donny’s style is a perfect fit for the station.”
Penk added that research on social media sites, such as Facebook, illustrated that Osmond has firm fans in the region - “the data clearly shows the people of the North West are the most passionate about Donny and his amazing forty-plus year career,” Penk opined.
The move will be seen by some as the ultimate indicator of the Revolution’s change in direction, from a station that championed alternative music and ‘a play what we want playlist’ in pre-Penk days to a more overtly populist and commercial operation.
The Donny Osmond show will debut on Saturday 16 April between 10am and 1pm on 96.2FM The Revolution and online at www.therevolution962.com .
