International Star Jimmy Osmond To Lead Cast Of Swansea's Pantomime
May 5, 2011
Swansea Grand Theatre has announced that the international pop legend Jimmy Osmond will lead the cast of its spectacular pantomime, Aladdin. The casting of one of the globe's most popular entertainers follows the announcement that Qdos Entertainment, the world's largest pantomime producer, will stage this year's Grand Theatre Christmas show.
The youngest of the world-famous Osmond dynasty, Jimmy was seen on the ITV series Popstar to Operastar. He made his debut in London's West End in Grease and then went on to star as Billy Flynn in the UK National tour of the smash-hit musical Chicago.
As well as his appearance on I'm A Celebrity…Get Out Of Here!, Jimmy has appeared on numerous UK television shows including Celebrity Come Dine With Me, All Star Family Fortunes and Saturday Kitchen. On top of the many world tours and records he has made with his siblings, Jimmy has six gold records to his credit and was the youngest ever solo chart-topper with his hit, Long-Haired Lover From Liverpool, which he recorded when he was nine in 1972!
Jonathan Kiley, Executive Producer of Aladdin, said:
"We are thrilled that Jimmy Osmond will lead the cast of Qdos Entertainment's pantomime at the Grand Theatre. Qdos brings unrivalled and first-class production values and this year there is an extra special treat in store as Aladdin features an array of ground-breaking 3D special effects. The show will be packed with an abundance of comedy, stunning sets and beautiful costumes in an unmissable show which is ideal entertainment for all ages."
Iwan Davies, Head of Culture & Tourism at the City and County of Swansea said:
"The sensational Jimmy Osmond combined with the production values brought to the stage by Qdos Entertainment means an exciting new start for pantomime at the Grand. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Jimmy and the cast to Swansea for what will be a magnificent pantomime season!"
