Weston Resident To Be Honored At
Multiple Sclerosis Event

Westport News
April 14, 2011

Patti Mertz, of Weston, will receive the Georgina B. Davids Award for volunteering to help people with multiple sclerosis at the Women Against Multiple Sclerosis Luncheon of Fairfield County May 6 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. Boutique shopping will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while the lunch and program is set from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Mertz, whose aunt and cousin died from multiple sclerosis, has been a member of the planning committee for the luncheon for nearly two decades.

David Osmond, a singer and songwriter with multiple sclerosis, and his father, Alan Osmond, a member of the Osmond Brothers singing troupe who also has the disease, will perform and talk at the event.

Multiple sclerosis is a potentially debilitating autoimmune disease with no known cure that affects the central nervous system. Funds raised through Connecticut chapter events, such as the luncheon, go toward scientific research to find better treatments and a cure.
The cost to attend is $125 per person.
