An article appeared in the paper announcing Paul Jensen as the sole owner of the Osmond Entertainment Center. He was the controlling owner of the multi-million dollar video/film facility since February. Jensen completed the purchase negotiations with Merrill, however, the Osmonds would maintain their production rights. According to Ron Clark, Jensen saw the right time for buying the remaining 45% leaving the Osmonds to capitalize on their performing careers. The new ownership said the complex will retain the Osmond name since their production activity would continue at the studio. |

An article appeared in the newspaper about the sale of the Osmond Studios. Merrill explained that negotiations had been going on for the past 18 months. The asking price for Paul Jensen’s 55 percent acquisition of the studio was $6 million. Paul Jensen represented Financial Services, a conglomerate of corporations including airlines, banks, and mortgage companies. The Dallas business man said one of the primary reasons for investing was the asking price which was about 1/3 cheaper than any comparable studio in the country. He also stated they had met with Ted Turner of the Turner Broadcasting Company in Atlanta, and they verbally agreed on two contracts—one is for the telecasting of the Osmond Brothers Television Show into 26 million homes across his cable network, and the second one was the production of a national TV special highlighting Provo and its Freedom Festival along with other July 4th celebrations across the country. The studio would retain the current name and the management corporation would be known as “Osmond Media” will Merrill as president, Donny as vice-president, and Jensen as chairman of the board. |
