The Osmond Brothers helped Sid and Marty Krofft prepare a Saturday morning show called The Krofft Supershow. This was a new show on ABC. The Osmond Brothers were writing all of the theme songs and all of the performance tunes.
Donny and Marie flew to Los Angeles to tape the Bob Hope Bicentennial Special. At this time, Donny also sang on the Cerebral Palsy Telethon. (Marie was not allowed to sing on the telethon because she had already worked the allotted hours allowed for someone under 16 at the Bob Hope Special. She was not allowed to perform even as volunteer.)

Jimmy, Marie, and Donny appeared on Family…And Other Living Things which aired on this date. The LDS church produced the show. This broadcast was one of the several throughout the Thanksgiving Week to different regions of the country. The first broadcast was November 20, 1976. This special received telephone and mail responses from viewers all over the country which was doubled more than what was anticipated. The hour long special featured the Osmond Brothers, Donny and Marie, Bill Bixby, Ruth Buzzi, Elinor Donahue, the Lennon Sisters, and Gary Burghoff. It was aired over 56 television outlets in the United States. More than 600 volunteers manned 50 telephones, which began ringing immediately after the first commercial of the first broadcast. The show featured a series of entertaining skits and musical numbers urging communication and understanding to promote family unity. 80,562 letters and telephone calls were received by the Church Headquarters by December 14. |
